Our Patron - Danny Frawley

1669

Our Patron for the sixth year is media personality and AFL Coaching Director Danny Frawley. A "Ballarat Boy" by birth, Danny still has very strong connections with the city and the area. The ride will again this year travel through most of the areas where he grew up. Danny is  passionate about cancer research having seen both family and close friends be affected by this disease.

Joining Danny is Michael Roberts, another media personality and a passionate supporter of cancer research.

Danny will also bring a number of other celebrities, family and friends to ride in The Classic.

Our sincere thanks to Danny and Michael for their support of the Ballarat Spokes Cycle Classic.

Our Ambassador - Jared Tallent

jared tallent
Jared Tallent, who at the London Games became only the second Australian male to claim three individual Olympic Athletics medals, has joined the Cycle Classic as an ambassador for the 2013 event.

A Ballarat native, Tallent claimed his second Olympic silver medal in the 50km walk at the 2012 Games, adding to silver and bronze medals won at Beijing in 2008.

Tallent's story is one of tenacity and persistence; having won bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, Jared's star has continued to rise as he has continually acquitted himself brilliantly at major events across the globe.

Jared and his wife Claire, who is also an international walker at the highest level, are thrilled to be involved with the 2013 event.

The Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute and the Cycle Classic team is honoured to have one of Australia's greatest Olympic athletes involved in 2013.

Our Supporters - City of Ballarat

The City of Ballarat once again is a major supporter of this event. The Committee vision is to create a sensational cycling event and at the same time raise much needed funds for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute. The City has a very strong cycling strategy that complements this event .

Our thanks go to the City of Ballarat for its ongoing support.
