Relay rules and conditions

The purpose of this ride is to have fun and celebrate life

Start time:  9.00 am

Finish time:  11.30 am

Maximum team members in a team - 12

The Lake Wendouree Cycle for Life Challenge is to complete as many or as little laps of the Lake with your family and friends and enjoy a great day out.  To ensure the safety of all riders we have set up a couple of housekeeping rules and ask you to pass these onto all the riders in your team.

  • Each team will be supplied with four fluro team numbers.  When a rider is completing a lap of the Lake this number must be displayed on the front of the rider's bike.  Once the rider has completed the number of laps they wish to do, the team number will need to be passed onto the rider taking over.  The team numbers will have a velcro attachment at the back so they can easily attach to the front of your bike securely and be taken on and off without interfering with rider safety.
  • When riders are changing over, please use the "Rider Changeover Zone" to ensure the safety of all riders on the day.
  • At any given time your team can only have 4 riders riding around the Lake. *This number can be less if you like*
  • Each completed lap by a member of your team will be counted towards your team "lap" total. Remember though this is about having fun.
  • All riders must not start a new lap after 11.25am, riders past the checkpoint at 11.25 can complete their current lap.  Once all riders have completed their final lap, the number of laps in each team is added up giving a total number of team laps.
  • All the team results are then added together for a total number of laps completed by everyone.  This will be known as the Cycle for Life Tally for 2011.

Fundraising Challenge 2011

All riders are automatically entered into the fundraising challenge. Cyclists are challenged to raise money via sponsorship for the Ballarat Cancer Research Centre, either as an individual or as part of a team. Once you have registered online, a link to your sponsor page will be forwarded to your nominated e-mail address.  Pass this onto your family and friends and ask them to sponsor your ride.

Great prizes are on offer for the highest individual and team fundraisers.
